Jack Fenwick joined The Evans Group as Director of Law Enforcement Programs in 2005. Prior to that, he enjoyed a successful eight year career as a manufacturer’s representative for several law enforcement equipment manufacturers and as a Regional Sales Manager for SureFire. Jack is a thirty year veteran of State of Florida, Department of Law Enforcement. His career began as a Special Agent conducting high level criminal investigations and progressed to management level positions. These included Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations, Director of Mutual Aid, and Director of Executive Services which included Governor’s Security, and Internal Affairs. He also served as Director of Investigations for the Governor’s Office of Chief Inspector General and as Inspector General of a major State Agency. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police. Jack remains active in the law enforcement community as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff.
Richard A. McLarin
Richard served twenty-four years with the Fulton County Georgia Police Department. He retired as Commander (Captain) of Special Operations (SWAT) and has over twenty years experience as a specialized instructor and supervisor in firearms and use of force. During his career, which started in patrol, he also served as a Detective, Precinct Lieutenant, Range Master, and Lieutenant of Investigations. Prior to being with Fulton County, Richard also served 6 years in the US Army where he had Airborne Training, served as a Military Policeman, and was a member of the US Army Pistol Team.
Rob is a thirty year veteran law enforcement officer, serving with two police departments in the same region (Bath PD and Copley PD) of Ohio. He was instrumental in establishing a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team in 1990 and has served on that team since its inception. His responsibilities have included entry, sniper and explosive entry team leader. Rob is also responsible for firearms training (both departmental and team), less lethal instruction and active shooter training.
Ken Farren is a thirty-three year veteran of Law Enforcement and U.S. Army Veteran. He was with the Amarillo Police Department for twenty-five years and retired at the rank of Lt. During his career with APD he served in almost every division including, SWAT, Narcotics and the Special Crimes Unit. He served for fifteen years on the APD SWAT Team, eleven as the SWAT commander where he had the responsibility for collateral supervision and training for the County Narcotics Task Force. He is the veteran of over 350 SWAT operations, 500 search warrants and is the survivor of several police shootings. After retirement from APD, Ken was hired to be the Chief Deputy of the Potter County Sheriff’s Office in Amarillo Texas, and retired June of 2007. He has testified and prepared depositions both in State and Federal Courts as an expert witness in Firearms, Police Tactics, and Homicide. Ken earned both an Associate Degree in Police Science from Amarillo Junior College and a Bachelors Degree in Occupation Education/Criminal Justice from Wayland Baptist University, and is a graduate of the FBI Academy.
Russ is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was an Armor Platoon leader at Ft. Hood, TX and an MP. He also earned a BA in degree in Criminology. Russ then came to us with twenty-two years of experience in the shooting industry where he has won numerous awards as a sales representative. During his successful career, Russ has served in all aspects of the industry from sales rep, to national sales manager. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to interface with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Most recently, he was National Sales Manager of a specialty ammunition company specializing in sales to LE Agencies and DOD.
Chris joined the Evans Group as a Technical Specialist in 2008. He has been in the firearms industry at multiple levels from retail sales to the manufacturer level where he held a national sales manager position. Chris has also been greatly involved in the LE arena where he has been conducting product demonstrations previous to joining the Evans Group. He is and accomplished certified firearms instructor in rifle, pistol, shotgun, and personal defense disciplines, as well as, working as an assistant instructor within the low-light, force-on-force realm. Along with his training, he is also a certified armorer in multiple weapons systems. Chris is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach where he earned a BA in English. He resides in Southern California.
Dave Buchanan joins the Technical Services Group after serving twenty-six years with the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland. During his police career, Dave was assigned to the Tactical Section for four years as an operator and eight years as the OIC resulting in hundreds of successful SWAT Operations and over 900 search warrant services. He was also a state certified Firearms Instructor, SWAT Instructor and was the Range Supervisor. After leaving the department, Dave joined the Heckler and Koch International Training Division to become a full time firearms, tactics, and armorers’trainer in the Northeast for three years eventually acting as Training Division manager. Dave continued as an HK adjunct instructor until 2007. He retired from his police career as a Lieutenant and earned a B.S. in Law Enforcement and Corrections from Penn State University and an M.A. in Criminal Justice from the George Washington University.
Dave is a twenty-two year law enforcement veteran who began his career as a Special Agent in Special Operation / Narcotics with the North Dakota Attorney Generals Office and later as a Special Agent assigned to Special Operations with the K.B.I. Kansas Bureau of Investigations. He finished his career as a Patrol Officer, Primary FTO and Lead Trainer with the St. Paul Police Department, St. Paul, Minnesota where he also facilitated three St. Paul Police Academies as the Primary Liaison Training Officer. He served as the Administrative Director for Dakota Technical College’s Customized Law Enforcement Training Program in Rosemount, Minnesota for five years where he specialized in designing, developing and implementing a wide variety of training programs. Dave has an extensive operational training background that includes designing and developing courses for domestic LE and DOD personnel in Use of Force and Deadly Force, Firearms, Legal Liabilities, Pursuit and Emergency Response Operations, Patrol Operations, Basic, Advanced, HRT and Force Tactical Operations, Shoot House Instructor Operations and Active Shooter Solutions. Most recently Dave was President of A & S Training, LLC based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Pat spent twenty-three years with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Phoenix, AZ, including assignments as the Meth Task Force Supervisor, Homicide Supervisor and Tactical Operations (SWAT) Team Leader. He retired as a Class Sergeant with the Basic Training Academy. Pat also served several years in the U. S. Army including as a Special Operations Civil Affairs Team Sergeant in Baghdad, Iraq from 2004 to 2005.
John Standridge is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as a communicator, close combat instructor, and team leader in a scout/sniper platoon. After an honorable discharge in 1997, he went to work as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor for a private company that would become the SureFire Institute. As a founding staff member, he helped develop the principles of low-light operations curriculum still in use today. After a two year stint as a private contractor, he returned to SureFire working in military/law enforcement sales for the next six years. He is currently a sworn peace officer serving as a Sniper/SRT Team member for a California police department.
